I am very honored to be your Superintendent at the Edgewood-Colesburg School District.  For the last three years, I have been the shared Superintendent at Maquoketa Valley and North Linn.  As of July 1, 2023, I am no longer at North Linn and now I will be shared between Maquoketa Valley and Edgewood-Colesburg.  I plan to spend time learning about the Ed-Co district by meeting and talking to staff and community members.  I am excited to work with others to continue to build upon the great things that are taking place for our students.

I would like to share a little about myself.  I grew up in Dyersville and attended Western Dubuque High School.  After college, I taught 9 years in Dubuque and then took a math position at Western Dubuque in 1998.  I taught for 6 more years and then became an administrator at WD for 12 years. I then accepted the Superintendent position in Montezuma where I stayed for 3 years before moving back to the area to be the Superintendent at Maquoketa Valley and North Linn.  My wife, Jane and I have 3 adult children.  Alissa is our oldest daughter and she lives in Dubuque.  Our son Sam lives in Phoenix with his wife Ali and their son Porter.  Our youngest daughter lives in Iowa City with her husband Austing and their son Finn.

My motivation in education comes from trying to continually improve our schools to provide as many opportunities as possible with an expectation of meeting the needs of all of our students.  There is very strong community support for our school and that is tremendously important.  My goal is to learn as much as possible about the district and then find ways to constantly improve.  I am very excited to be the superintendent of both Maquoketa Valley and Edgewood-Colesburg and I look forward to meeting staff and community members in the Edgewood and Colesburg community.

Finally, I would like to thank Rob Busch for his many years of service at Ed-Co.  He has been an important part of the success of this school district and has been very helpful to me during my transition into this role.
