Superintendent's Page
Rob Busch is originally from Seymour, Iowa, where he graduated from Seymour High School in 1986. From 1986 to 1990, he attended the University of Northern Iowa earning his Bachelor of Arts in Technology Education. His administrative education was completed at Drake University. Rob completed his Masters Degree in Secondary Administration in 1998 and his Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership in 2003.
Mr. Busch became superintendent in July of 2013. He began his teaching career in Centerville teaching Industrial Technology at the high school and junior high in 1990. He also coached 8th-grade football, 8th basketball, junior varsity basketball, and assisted with varsity basketball. From 2001 to 2004, he served as secondary principal at Moulton-Udell Community Schools. Mr. Busch was superintendent of Wayne and Lineville-Clio School Districts from 2004 to 2010. He returned to Centerville Schools in July of 2010 as Curriculum Director/Business Manager. During the summers, Rob taught Driver Education at Villisca High School, Centerville High School, and Seymour High School.
Rob wants to help students understand education and technology can open many doors for them in the future. He also believes more community involvement in schools is key. It is imperative to have not only the involvement of the family but also other citizens within the community with the ultimate goal of success for all. He also believes that for education to improve relations, relevance and rigor must be part of the equation. The class and community size of Edgewood-Colesburg allows for a great start on the relationship part.
His wife Michele taught kindergarten in Centerville. Their son, Payton, teaches science at Northwest Junior High in Iowa City. Their daughter, Katie, is also a UNI graduate and teaches 3rd grade at Vinton-Shellsburg. Rob enjoys family activities and bike riding.
