Patricia Briggs, 2020-2021 Elementary Principal

As President of the Edgewood Colesburg School Board, I am excited for the future of Ed-Co! I want to congratulate Patricia Briggs on being selected for the position of Elementary Principal and I want to thank her for choosing Ed-Co as the next step in her very impressive career in education.  She comes to us with a diverse level of leadership experience ranging from Elementary Principal and Curriculum Director, Instructional Coach in a school setting, to Literacy/Curriculum Consultant at an AEA. She has also been an elementary teacher for over 15 years.  We are very happy to have her join us for the 2020/2021 school year.  The experience she brings to the table, as well as her knowledge of literacy, language arts, and curriculum development, will be very valuable as our district moves forward.

The choice was not an easy one.  There were 19 applicants, and we narrowed it down to four great candidates who interviewed.  All of them had much to offer.  I am happy that our district can attract such highly qualified candidates to lead us into the future.  Because of the Covid 19 restrictions on gatherings of people, we did the interviews via a Zoom video conference on the computer.  Each candidate had three Zoom sessions to meet with different groups.  The candidates first met with the teacher group.  Then they met with the community group and lastly the school board for a total of close to three hours of interviews each.  We really appreciate the input from each group and know that we made a very solid hire for this position.

This process went very smoothly on the Zoom platform, and the board has also been doing our public meetings via Zoom.  If any of you want to come to our meetings by way of the computer, I highly encourage it.

Thanks again to all of those involved in the interview process. We look forward to exciting times as we continue to work together to improve student achievement and provide educational opportunities.  - Bob Schilling, Ed-Co Board President
