Community invited to work session Monday, Aug. 27
Edgewood-Colesburg CSD Supporters,
Thank you for all your support and work for the Edgewood-Colesburg School District. A couple of the projects that were identified by the last couple of bond issues are being addressed this summer. New windows were installed in the elementary building to fix the cold air draft issues in the classrooms in the winter. The heating units were worked on and quieted down so they can run while class is in session and everyone can hear. The bathrooms were upgraded with new epoxy flooring and new stall dividers. A portion of concrete around the building at the elementary was fixed, and a new parking area has been started with more improvements to come. In Edgewood we’ve upgraded bathrooms as well, along with some new windows and painting the ceiling material in the gym so it doesn’t keep flaking.
Parking improvements in both Edgewood and Colesburg and HVAC controls in Edgewood are scheduled to begin in the Spring of 2019. Included with this letter are rough drafts of the Edgewood and Colesburg parking lots.
Time and money are always the challenge. Bids for windows and bathrooms came in under early estimates and it appears the parking improvements may also be under estimate. As you know the district's current best use of funding for these projects is the State Penny (SAVE). 80% of other Iowa school districts also have a voter-approved physical plant & equipment levy which are used for facilities improvements.
We are looking for Edgewood and Colesburg community members to meet and discuss future options. If you are interested please attended the Work Session on Monday, August 27, 6pm in Edgewood. Please encourage others that you think are Edgewood-Colesburg School District supporters to attend this meeting.
