BURRINGTON GROUP, INC. SPONSORS TRIG-STAR AT EDGEWOOD-COLESBURG SCHOOL DISTRICT

Edgewood-Colesburg High School had 4 students participate in the recent TRIG-STAR competition.  The winner was Morgan Fannon, daughter of Jim & Lori Fannon, Edgewood.  Assisting David Meyer, L.S.I. with the competition was, Aaron Hamann mathematics teacher at Edgewood-Colesburg Community School District, Edgewood, Iowa.

A TRIG-STAR is a trigonometry student who has demonstrated, in competition that they are the most skilled among classmates in the practical application of trigonometry.  The competition for this honor is simply a timed exercise that involves the solving of a trigonometry problem that incorporates the use of right triangle formulas, the law of sines and the law of cosines.  The contest helps to promote careers in surveying and mapping to students enrolled in High Schools around the nation.  The award is sponsored by the National Society of Professional Surveyors and co-sponsored locally by Burrington Group, Inc., Manchester, Iowa.   Local winners can continue on to the National Trig-Star competition for scholarship awards if they qualify.

7th Grade Parents: Please read the attached letter regarding your child's immunization requirements. Your child will need to have proof of "Tdap vaccine" before the 2015-2016 school year.
Computer Roll-Out: Computers will be handed out the first day of school.  If you wish to take your laptop computer home with you, the attached Computer Loan Agreement 2015-16 must be completed & returned with a $75.00 payment.

Parents of Teen Drivers: There are changes to driver license procedures for teen drivers effective January 1, 2014. The attached letter from the Iowa Department of Transportation explains these changes.


Bullying/Harassment Form: The Ed-Co School District cares about the safety and well-being of all students. We want to make sure it is the best possible place for students to learn. The Board of Education and staff realize bullying/harassment is detrimental to the health and safety of students and disruptive to the educational process. This form will be used to assist in the investigation of incidents that may not be otherwise reported directly to an adult. Names are required only for school to complete a thorough investigation. Please understand that the results of all investigations are confidential. However, you can expect to receive contact following the reported incident to both acknowledge receipt of the report and for the investigator to collect additional information when necessary. Activity Tickets: $50.00/student and $75.00/adult. Contact the HS office to purchase. Updated senior passes are now available. Senior passes are valid for all Ed-Co events only; (other schools will no longer honor them).
